It was from the sprinklers nearby, spraying well water on the bricks for over 20 years. We have well water with lots of iron in it. The stains on the brick were an eyesore and a dark red rust color. To remove the rust we used Oxcalic Acid. A white powder that is mixed at a ratio of 8oz to 1 gallon of water. This mixture can be sprayed on, but i used a scrub brush to get into all the crevices of the brick and grout. After letting it dry for 1 hour i came back and washed off the white powder. I also had to do a second round of scrubbing to feather out the stain and blend it in with the surrounding brick. Disclosure Note: The above links are Amazon Affiliate links.
